Karen M. Keeler

     

Karen Keeler is an associate attorney at Erickson and Sederstrom practicing in the litigation division since 2012.  Ms. Keeler’s litigation practice includes all areas of civil litigation, including general and commercial litigation, insurance defense, workers' compensation matters, personal injury and employment litigation.  A portion of Ms. Keeler’s practice is also focused on Healthcare law.   She is a Medicare Set-Aside Certified Consultant with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and advises clients on Medicare compliance and HIPPA regulations. She has handled workers' compensation and civil litigation matters at both the trial and appellate level for both plaintiffs and defendants.  She is licensed to practice in both the State and Federal Courts of Nebraska and the State Courts of Iowa and Colorado.  Ms. Keeler is a member of the Nebraska Bar Association, the Omaha Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, and the Iowa Bar Association.

Ms. Keeler graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2012.  While in law school Ms. Keeler had the opportunity to clerk in the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska in the Honorable Judge Laurie Smith Camp’s chambers.

Professional and Civic Affiliations

Ms. Keeler serves as the Sunny Slope Elementary PTA president and as the leader of Girl Scout Troop 43178, she is a committee member of the Omaha Public Schools’ Citizen Advisory Committee.  Additionally, Ms. Keeler volunteers her time each year during Law Day to speak to grade school students about the legal profession. 

Additional Information

Prior to attending law school Ms. Keeler worked as an ICCU care coordinator for Region 6 Behavioral Health Services providing ongoing case management services for Nebraska State Wards and their families.  During this time she worked extensively within the Douglas County Juvenile Court providing testimony and written recommendations concerning the best interests of Nebraska State Wards.
