Charles Thone Attorney at Law Mr. Thone was born near Hartington, Cedar County, Nebraska on January 4, 1924. He has a J.D., from the University of Nebraska Law School, 1950 and received an Honoree Doctorate from the University in 1989. He was admitted to the Nebraska bar in 1950, admitted to the Nebraska United States District Court and commenced practice in Lincoln. Mr. Thone’s area of practice is Government Relations. Charley brings many years of experience in government service to Erickson & Sederstrom. From 1950-1952 he was Assistant State Attorney General, and from 1952-1954 he served as Nebraska’s Assistant US Attorney. Charley was the state’s First District Representative to Congress from 1971-1979, and Governor of Nebraska from 1979-1983. He has been a Delegate at Large to ten National Republican Conventions. Charley also served on the Nebraska Supreme Court nominating Commission from 1969-1970 and from 1990-1996, the Executive Committee of the Interstate Oil Compact Commission from 1981-1983, and as chairman of the Old West Economic Development Commission from 1981-1982. He also served as chairman of the Agricultural Committee of the President’s Export Council from 1982-1985; he is an active Rotarian, assuming the Lincoln Presidency in 1990, and served as District Governor, 1996-1997. He is a past President of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and past President of both the Nebraska State Bar Foundation and the National Conference of Bar Foundations. Mr. Thone is a life member of many social and civic organizations including Nebraska State Parent-Teachers Association, Nebraska Broadcasters Association, Nebraska State Historical Society, Nebraska B.P.O. Elks, Nebraska Jaycees, Lincoln Legion Post No.3; Hartington Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No.5283, Capital Hill Club, Washington D.C. Mr. Thone and his wife, Ruth, have three grown daughters who live in Seattle, Montreal and Boston.
